One of my inspirations to be a photographer was album covers. Beautifully crafted, amazing images and a glimpse of what I wanted to be was always at my fingertips. Long before I could think about affording books, album covers provided images to aspire too. With the advent of digital music, we've lost that tactile exposure to the images that make up the album. I think the images create a sense of what the music will reveal and what the artist intended their message to be. I've always missed being able to see who wrote the song, who played the instruments and the images that are part of the package.
A recent visit by my nephew and his wife, who I will refer to as "enablers" from this point forward, convinced me there was something to be gained from listening to music on vinyl. As I am want to do, I jumped in pretty much with both feet and I now have a turn table and a growing collection of albums from some of my favorite musicians, and as a result, a set of images to look through and to be inspired all over again. Very sweet!
