Lazy Afternoon Recuperation
Soli resting with Diane, September, 2009
Lots of dog images recently and stuff from around the home.
The year is quickly coming to an end. And where has the time gone? I've always heard that times flies as one gets older and I've sensed that this year in particular. I've traveled a lot this year and it's eaten into the personal life quite a bit. This image reminds me of what it's like, and how much I love, a quiet afternoon at home. Especially after all of the travel of recent.

Leica Hasselblad
I've been trying to get a handle on the Hasselblad for a number of months. Since I had it repaired, it's much easier to focus and I'm really starting to get the hang of it. So it stays for a while. At least until I get a bad roll out of it and my short attention span takes hold again.
Over the weekend I was going through my photography notebook and noticed an entry I had forgotten about. A few months back I took the Hassy up to Huntington Beach for a Civil War Reenactment. It was a pretty good weekend and I got a couple of images I liked.
What I had forgotten about was a story of someone who approached me that day. This nice gentleman noticed the camera and asked me if it was a Hasselblad. I responded that it was and he let me know his uncle had one years ago and that he was a professional photographer. The conversation went along as we stood waiting for some of the re-enactors to pass our position when he says that his uncle had taken images of Bruce Springsteen. It prompted me to ask who his uncle was and I was surprised by the answer. His uncle was Eric Meola, an inspiration to me in my photography.
I did tell him I had never met Mr. Meola when he asked if I knew him, but I knew of his work and found it to be an inspiration for me as a photographer. I've been approached before but this was a really interesting conversation with someone who just wanted to talk about photography. It was a pleasant surprise on an otherwise pretty good day.
This is Nalu - again - and I swear she isn't this sad. However, she and Soli are both getting pretty good at avoiding me when the camera comes out. Nalu looks sad and Soli waits until the absolute critical time and gets up and moves away. I swear there is some kind of conspiracy going on with the women in my life and my cameras.
Nalu wants nothing to do with the photographer

Hasselblad Posting Guard
Nalu sits and guards the Airstream from a trip earlier this year but isn't very good about protecting my computer. She'd actually like me to get rid of it so she can get on my lap at any time she so chooses. But since it needs to be protected, well, actually the stuff inside needs to be protected, you should go over to the Resolve blog and read a really good article on best practices to make it a little more safe.

Hasselblad Anti-photo Shield
This article cracked me up. Apparently there is technology available that will thwart the making of images. I'm betting Nalu wishes she had access to the technology. Oh wait, it only works on CCD sensors. Oops!
Nalu caught in the act!
