My Kentucky
Sunday, October 18, 2009 When I was 16, Pop retired from the Air Force and retired to his hometown in Kentucky. I don't recall if it was a culture shock or not, but I do remember it wasn't Norway where I really wanted to go. Despite that, I have an affection for Kentucky and a chip on my shoulder when it's generalized as a backward place.
I went back last week for some family time as well as a chance to photograph. It's not a well fleshed out project and will grow in depth over time I suppose. But here is the first image from the week.
Abandoned Tank, Louisville, KY
This is a large format image from downtown Louisville. There is quite a dichotomy between the refined portion of Louisville and the working portion of Louisville. I love this city and feel really comfortable here connecting with both parts of the city. It's a great place and should be on anyone's list if they are visiting the Commonwealth.
And by the way, I was hassled or restricted while setting up this image. I was the subject of curiosity but otherwise left alone.
